Dmitry Orlov was born in Leningrad, USSR, into an academic family, and emigrated to the US in the mid-1970s. He holds degrees in Computer Engineering and Linguistics, and has worked in a variety of fields, including high-energy physics, Internet commerce, network security and advertising. He is the author of several previous books, including Reinventing Collapse and The Five Stages of Collapse.

I believe that a new style of "UN" will evolve
Excellent analysis by Mr. Orlov! His grasp of the entirety of the situation in Ukraine, militarily,
economically and geopolitically is profound and
quite comprehensive! He fully understands what
is going on below the surface and driving this
conflict forward, despite the complete futility
of continuing hostilities. Ukraine has no
possibility of winning this conflict, and yet is
persuaded by its Western backers to keep
up the good fight. Absolute madness by any stretch of the imagination. The loss of life on both sides
of this conflict is tragic, and sadly for the people
of Ukraine quite catastrophic! The destruction of
property and infrastructure is equally as devastating
for Ukraine and its people. Likely it will never
recover from this conflict with Russia.
Mr. Orlov’s insights and perspectives about Ukraine, it’s people
and its chances for survival once hostilities end, are all
sadly quite accurate. Whether anything will remain of the now
rump state of Ukraine, once its neighbors get the territory
they desire, remains to be seen. The corruption by
Zelensky and many in his government, has siphoned off
tens of millions of U.S. and Western aid into the hands of
a select few at the top. Thy will all live in luxury for years to
come while the people remaining in Ukraine will suffer short
term and long term. The catastrophe that has been set in motion
in Ukraine , largely by the reckless actions of their Western
supporters, will continue for years if not decades to come.
No doubt more Ukrainians will seek to flee their homeland
for other parts of Europe and North America, putting additional
strains on the economies and populations of the countries where
Ukrainian immigrants will attempt to move to. Overall this Ukrainian
Project of the Neocons has been a colossal failure on multiple
levels. It has however strengthened Russia and its position in the world,
and also strengthened the BRICS nations as well. This conflict has in
fact created the very conditions that the West was so desperately trying
to prevent. This is resulting in the overall decline of the West, and the
simultaneous rise of BRICS and a new multipolar world. Again, just the
opposite of what the West was looking to do. The insanity of this
whole endeavor is becoming apparent as things continue to unfold.
Thank you for bringing Dmitri Orlov back on to your podcast. His knowledge
and expertise about the world, enlightens and informs us all on so many
levels! After listening to what he had to say, we all have a far better
understanding of what is going on in the world. Keep up the good
work, you are doing a terrific job!
Love Orlov, but I just can't see reserve status of USD (which leads to deindustrialization, excessive debt growth and impoverishment, all clearly observable in today's America) as being good for the USA. It was an existential error for the US to agree to such Bretton Woods arrangement. It brought only trouble for America.

One thing that has really inspired me and given me hope is how many long time you-tubers who know what is happening yet continue trying to spread the truth even though they lose all hope of making money. I believe these unsung heroes WILL be recognized as we go forward and remember those who STOOD UP FOR FREEDDOM in our country. We will NEVER forget those who stopped the masking, the poking etc. I believe it IS working and people like the Coup leader Ibrahim Traore are becoming ROCK STARS – and he DESERVES IT for the civilized, classy and bloodless aproach to getting PROPER royalties for the people of his country so THEY can also have electricity.. They have been getting only 80 CENTS for the same amount the French Company was getting over 200 DOLLARS for from it's French Customer. The Company is the owners of the TALLEST building in the most expensive part of Paris, the most expensive city in the world; after DECADES of takeing advantage of the people of Africa. So sad. Meanwhile, only 10% of the people in this African country have reliable power with MOST having no electricity at all.
Even though American's are likely going to be terribly hurt with the fall of the dollar they STILL want what is best for Africa and Africans. So incredibly self-less. I know none of us are starving but it is still great to see people are realizing it is OUR government who is creating most of the problems in the world due to THEIR meddling in so many countries politics. Pretty much spot on but I think Varoufakis underestimates externalities and also overestimates the influence of big capital in times such as these. How will this play out? Well I am curious about that myself actually, but he's not wrong in his analysis.

UN needs to move out. But I do not see Dubai as a good candidate. It is hot, it is somewhat religion sensitive, and at 2-3 meters asl, it will be susceptible to sea-level rise in a decade or two. The UN already has big branch offices in Geneva, 373 meters asl, and Addis Ababa, 2,438 asl. Geneva might be prone to the same problem as New York City, and the risk of the US imposing upon any European nation will likely diminish its appeal. Addis Ababa is a good candidate, provided it builds up its infrastructure. Moreover, African nations, which are a big voting block in the UN, might prefer to have the UN headquartered where the AU and ECA are already operating. Addis Ababa is even a candidate for a BRICS head office, should that association decide to have a headquarter.
Any ideas as to why Iran And Saudi Arabia are asked at the same time to join? It’s not because they have no strings attached.
