Johnny toronto himself broke it down post game, he said knies made a good one touch pass that enabled him to get some space and when he came around the net he saw mo crashing the net so he just threw it on net.
Schenn had already decided he better be ready to go back if JT lost the puck w 2 Tampa pressing…. given Morgan was in the corner – team could not afford to give up a break-away.. so credit his decision to be safe (tho he likely could have gotten the pass if he was ready to gamble on it & 100% sure JT was not going to be checked)… Great play by JT (& Morgan gambling in net front helped….. plus a bit of puck luck). Meant to be I guess..
Tavares not only ended the Islanders curse in 2016, he also ended the Leafs curse in 2023

Watching the replay of the bench as JT came around the net, you can read Keefe's lips as he says "Holy f***", go to the forehand" pretty much the second before JT spins and lets it go 🙂

It was a great shift by Tavares but why is this somehow amazing? Of course he is going to try to get the puck…that is the goal of the game. That doesn’t make it such an amazing play. The better play was Knies deftly putting the puck along the boards where JT could pick it up with momentum. That was a much more impressive play in my opinion
