OK Guys, with one pre-season game remaining for the Montreal Canadiens, I feel like I’ve finally seen enough of the team to come up with a lineup… MY OWN lineup, for opening night of the 2023-2024 season. Lets chat about it!

Listen, I love gally as the most tenured player on this team. But in my opinion, he has never been the same player since the tatar-danault-gally line got disassembled in the playoff run. He's been banged up and dosnt seem to be an effective player anymore. Management is going to have to find some long term solution with that contract…

For me Caufield-Suzuki-Dach should be untouchable, 3rd/4th line wing pairs can be shifted up and down but I'm a fan of the the RHP Gally duo, if it doesnt work then switch Gally with Anderson.

Our defense situation is defo weird cuz we got alot of guys that are near the same level and alot of the players on each side dont match all too well. Like I wanna give Guhle more ice with Savard on top but that would mean putting Matheson on the 2nd line when he's our best D, so Guhle's on the 2nd line but who do you put with him? It's hard man. My hot take here ig would be Lindstrom, I really liked what I saw in the preseason from him he was actually pretty good and I wasnt that impressed by Norlinder as alot of people were, I'd actually pic Mailloux before him. I def think Mailloux could be able to take Kovacevic's place if he plays great in Laval. Finally as much as it hurts me to do I think Xhekaj is a 7th D here, by talent it does make sense even tho I did really like him during the preseason. I really hope he can show signs of getting better to maybe take Harris's place because of how much he brings outside of raw talent.

They'll probably switch back and forth and the one that plays better in the first third of the season will get more games moving forward, just putting Monty above Allen cuz I hope he ends up being the better one for our futur's sake.
I HAVE to roll with Monahan on the first line. We néed to showcase him. Plus him and suzuki can take faceoffs on their respective sides. I can see Monahan and Newhook switching spots.
Harvey Bédard on the 2nd line instead of Anderson. I want Andy with Newhook and Pearson on the 3rd. Gally hasn't done much as for right now. He's going on the 4th.
Drop Slav to the third line and make him earn it, contary to what you say, he did not look good during the preseason, he looked better than last year at times, other times he looked lost in the sauce.
Just food for thoughts : try filling the first line spot by a blank and then create lines.

The middle 6 is interchangeable but they are in the right chair, the 4th line is where our bad contracts goes to die, everything kinda seems to fit once you have that player on the first line.
Monohan is NOT a centre. Why Roy didn't stay with the Big Club (for at least 10 games) made no sense to me.

Before doing the Starting Lineup should we focus on the 23 players list under the cap including Pricy. He need to be on the list of 23. just we can clear his 10,5 M$ Cap Hit. so we got to keep 22 players the 23 is Carey Price. As soos that list is approved Price goes back to the LITR for the reste of the season. We could called back someone waiver exempt from Laval.

This was my last exact forward lineup, Matheson is probably gonna throw a wrench is those D pairings, we know Marty likes having the vets on the 1st pair. Guhle & Johnny – Xhekaj & Harris to round it out.
Gotta put ylonen somewhere on the third or fourth line cuz he his one hell of a handler and puck controller

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’ve never thought Jordan Harris looked good. I don’t see the value he brings. Can someone share their thoughts as to what they’ve seen / where he’s looked good?

It's all just my opinion but I really hope Dach plays with Nick and Cole, they really showed something great last season and I'd love to see it continue. I understand we all like what we see from Dach at center and I'll never have a problem having extra centers but if the Habs are going to give up that much for newhook I believe they see him as a solid 2nd line center in the future and not a winger but we will have to wait and see. I agree with most of your line up, but I'm thinking that Armia is probably going to be on the 4th line instead of Pezz. Not because he earned it, but because he's a veteran and that's the way it goes. It's also easier to sit Pezz and they have to show Armia around if they want to have any chance of trading him.. fingers crossed. Also, if Slaf isn't producing with Dach and Anderson, I wouldn't be surprised to see RHP take his place on the 2nd line.

Slafkovsky on merit does not deserve to be in the NHL. this is not negativity but the habs have bungled his handling. 1) he should have been sent back to Europe last year . Far from Prying Hab fans eyes. Like Reinbacher this year. This year he should have been in OHL dominating and next year start in the AHL
but the habs have burnt years of his ELC… very bad
