The LA Kings played 3 games, 2 of them in Australia. We’ll talk about what has us excited (Pierre-Luc Dubois, Jordan Spence, Cam Talbot) and is concerning (penetly kill, Pheonix Copley) as the preseason is underway. Next on this edition of Locked on LA Kings.

I honestly wish we keep Durzi. Cuz he will drops the gloves to stand up for his teammates.
We need more guys that's willing to drop tgw gloves.
I think Durzi will have a career year in Arizona.
In LA 5 on 5 he played the left side. He won't be on the left at all in Arizona. He will also have the green light all season to go on offense.
In LA they wanted 2 way responsibility because they were concerned about making the playoffs. In Arizona they are not going to make the playoffs unless they get lucky so all Durzi has to worry about is offense from his position.
He should thrive under these circumstances.
PLD looks uncomfortable with his line mates. Also, he looks like he's fighting the puck, but that could be the ice conditions. Im not concerned as its only 2 games in pre season. The first 20 games in real season will give us a true indication of his play.
Yeah, PL Dubouis is doing PL Duboius stuff. I truly believe in my heart that this guy considers himself a rockstar at the levels of like Malkin and Matthews. He's obviously not even close but call me PL Dubois because that's how I see myself in bright lights of Hollywood. Oh, you don't want to play me the way i want to be played…I guess it's time for a trade. Other than that, I really hope I see Bjornfot on opening day. Englund is so flat footed. That highlight goal that Cooley scored should not have gone down like that. Englund was a pylon. I actually think Bjornfot is timid and can be better offensively. He handles the puck well with good hands. He may just need a boost in confidence and allowed to make a mistake here and there as he lears. Byfield is trying too hard early in games and playing too agitated and the caffeine high wears off come the 2nd period. Copley is not good but not usually terrible either. I don't see him sticking around unless there are injuries.
In this past years playoffs PL had a better face off percentage than Danault.
I agree. Spence looked composed. Vets did what they do best. Moore looked good. PK looked shaky, defense had too many breakdowns, and the kids didn't show much in game two. Sorry but Byfield still looked lost out there. Kalyiev didn't impress much either. Those two need to step up.
I agree, less stress watching Spence. Best of luck to Durzi. Like him and he stops making mental mistakes he will have a great career.
The Kings broadcast was flawless. An insider summed it up perfectly. No moments where you just cringed or looked at sideways. Just a perfect brosdcast undisturbed.
Nick is perfect and works well with Fox where Faust and Fox sometimes seemed like oil and water. With Nick it was a well oiled machine.
Vilardi had a highlight assist
I still think Todd mclelan is a huge letdown and he isn’t that good of a coach. I think his PK and PP ARE average at best
I’m getting a Jason Allison vibe from PL. Big, great puck protector, good hands. And similar MO. If I recall correctly, when we got Allison, he came with a reputation of being difficult and not working hard. If PL is anywhere near the player Allison was, I would say our future is bright. Crossing fingers.
Given Allison’s success with Deadmarsh and Palffy, maybe pairing PL with Grundstrom and Fiala wouldn’t be a bad idea. I’d love to see that if Kaliyev doesn’t pan out.
Agree completely with your take on Spence but can't disagree more about Englund and Bjornfot personally while I thought Englund was OK he made some glaring mistakes such as on the Cooley goal where as with Bjornfot I thought he was fantastic he played a very Matt Roy game quiet, solid and consistent, he didn't make any mistakes, and defended well in the D-zone, Toby was drafted as a shut down/2-way defender and that was the game he played he could use his skating better but he did his job defensively
OMG! In an interview Todd said they practiced zero special teams. ZERO. Also new personnel and fewer right hand shots
I am always stunned that fans go on and on about something when it’s been addressed in an interview at some previous point. I try to read as much as I can
Also, I do enjoy your show very much! Thank you for your efforts to bring variety 👍
I agreed with everything you said, Eddie. My heart dropped on their PK and was finally the reason I stopped watching. I just figured they'd lose all three games…and they did end up losing two games. Fortunately, it feels like PLD can come alive, at some point. Regarding goalies, anyone need something to feel good about? <huh> Go check out the game the Flyers got pummeled in. Yup, Cal Peterson was in goal. I know, we got our tenders "on the cheap", but our "D" is still learning/getting comfortable/learning to work together. So we need first saves from each of them. Of course, the defensemen really have to be cleaning house/clearing the puck away in games. Eddie said Talbot kept pretty good control, but our "D" needs to be there to sweep those pucks out. Someone needs to remind Coach McClellan that our team remains known for its core defense. So-team-time to get those elbows and knees movin' and look out for your goaltenders. Meaanwhile, her's hoping the Kings don't see the Oilers for a few months…Go Kings! rl
