  1. It's because he's so young yet already got lots of toxic character events in his past. you wanna trade a guy like this and milk it and not build a franchise around him.

  2. As a sens fan I would like to keep mathieu joseph and ship out someone else as joseph is a strong fast skater with a good shot. Would hate to lose pinto though wither way

  3. Buddy went from being the cover athlete for Chel '23 to nowadays where he can't get more than a 3 million dollar contract. 😂 No way

  4. As a kings fan who lives near Anaheim, I’ve seen a lot of Zegras, and I can say that he is definitely overrated. I think a 5mil/2-3 year bridge deal is appropriate, but he hasn’t earned that long term 7 mil contract. Especially with his play in the defensive zone and his face off percentage. He can not be payed that much as your first line center.

  5. Zegras is all flash, no heart. That's why the Ducks are so bad, they draft and trade for players who just want to have fun and give 75 % or less.

  6. He's fun, but in a meritocracy you'd rather have a gym rat rinkoholic who quietly puts up twenty more points. He's a head scratcher from a GM's perspective.

  7. I think Pat Verbeek is jealous of zegras because he didn't have the skill that Zegras has sorry to think that way but pat verbeek is starting to piss me off

  8. Zegras is a very talented player. I'm floored that the ducks are low balling him.

  9. Anaheim giving Killorn 6.25 for 4 years but not wanting to pay Zegras is the most anti-rebuild thing ever

  10. Zegras is a talented player no question But his shenanigans are also a question. Maybe meet in the middle for a year and see how it plays out. Their is more to hockey than tricked up fancy plays. Zegras has the tools to be an all-star but does he have the character and make up to get paid $7million a season. I would not right now!

  11. Lmao. 🤣 Yes the Ducks are making a huge mistake, 😂 Now there gonna do even worse and and get even better draft pick. There’s literally zero downside.

  12. If I was a GM I wouldn’t be comfortable giving Zegras 7 or 8 million long term. He still has to prove he wants to win and that hockey is his top priority and not all the other BS on and off the ice that hurts his game. He just needs to show a tiny bit of maturity and he would get paid.

  13. There is an off-ice issue going on that is not public, yet. When things don't make sense it's because there are some things that are bigger and more difficult to negotiate than stats. Neither side wants to disclose or leak it, but these types of things have a way of becoming known, sooner or later. This is not a money issue.

  14. I just got home from the Ducks vs Yotes game at Acrisure. Don’t tell me that Z isn’t worth 7 m, EVERYONE has his jersey on. He’s the face of the franchise – pay him accordingly. Oh, and PV sucks. Name a signing he’s done that improved this team. I’ll wait.

  15. What happens to RFAs if they don't sign? Can they become FAs? Would they be traded at the deadline?

  16. Not having Zegras to start the regular season seems stupid, OR we have some conspiracy theories:

    1. Ducks want to shoot for No.1 pick again and not having Zegras for 1 month might be "good".
    2. The Ducks just want to retaliate the NHL for not awarding them Bedard by taking away one of the biggest "influencer" player.

  17. Zegras is a showboat and should be on a barnstorming team..not a team player..coming from a last place team and now he comes with baggage..Drysdale played 8 whole games last year.. if they were smart and continue being good players they would get the big money in one or two years when he's 25 26 years old.. get rid of both of them they don't need them

  18. Zegras has been a “plus” player everywhere but the NHL, and that team was brutal.
He’s a show boat (not my style of player) but he sells tickets and that has to be considered.

  19. I’m gonna throw this out here and see if this ends up being the case. I think Anaheim wants to wait these contracts out to get lowered cap hits for years 2+ in exchange for a higher cap hit in year one of these Zegras deals. So they’re giving shit now but they’ll cave in the end. A more disrespectful version of Nylander and the leafs 4 or so years ago.

  20. Zegras has had the most attention and hype in recent times for a guy that is a one dimensional hockey player that hasn't even excelled in that one dimension yet! A lot of flash but has TERRIBLE defensive awareness and effort, takes dumb and selfish penalties, and appears to have a bit of an attitude problem. He may one day reach the lofty potential a lot of fans think he has, but i doubt many intelligent hockey fans would be shocked if he ended up being just the type of player he is now, a middling one dimensional player. Time will tell, but i wouldn't want "my team" putting all their eggs in his basket. Great for selling merch and tickets to the casual fan (which is important) but not conducive to winning hockey games over the long haul. He's young and can develop and change, and i hope he does, but i for one will certainty not be holding my breath.

  21. I dunno where you get you info , but you need to look elsewhere , i can 100 percent guarentee ypu are wrong in every way about the pinto situation , as told to me by the leaders of the senators in person . You need better sources , badly

  22. Anaheim is gonna try to rebuild with a room full of kids that don't think the organization will pay them fairly… Great idea guys.

  23. Every signing is a risk that can cost a gm his job.

Trevor Zegras is a player you absolutely take that chance on. This is Pittsburgh Pirates (MLB) levels of sports management

  24. As a NJ fan Ill just give some quick comparisons for your consideration.
So The Ducks are offering Trevor essentially the same money NJ gave Miles Wood last season on a 1 year deal.
    And Miles Wood STINKS.
Take into consideration Palat on NJ is making 5 mil per and he is a guy who doesnt average 20 pots a season.

The Ducks contract offer is pure lunacy.

  25. The Ducks gotta relocate if they want any success in the future. It seems the trend is that young players care more about playing in orange county than in the NHL. Forever LA’s little brother. Don’t @ me

  26. Obviously this video is now outdated for Zegras since he just signed. But I agree with everything said in it, and I worry what effect Verbeek’s lowball may have on the team-player relationship moving forward. And it’s very weird to me that the Ducks held out for so long only to come up to the exact number Zegras was asking for after he’s already missed most of camp and preseason. What was the point? I’m thinking ownership maybe got involved and told Pat what to do, not that we’ll ever actually know.

  27. Not a huge mistake. Zegras really ain’t that special lol. Got paid like a 60 point getter. Bout 100 other guys or maybe more got over 60. That it pretty average and he plays more minutes than anybody on the team. Tory Terry is their guy, Zegras can hold his water for him. Z got his name big off that one cool goal he scored last year, who cares.

  28. I feel like 3×5.75 is a good contract, if he can prove he's a number one center then he'll get paid but right now he's a one dimensional player
