[Powers] The Blackhawks have assigned Isaak Phillips to Rockford. That leaves them with 19 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies in camp.

Blueline is pretty much set now, with three rookies (Vlasic, Kaiser, Korchinski) entering the fold alongside Jones/Murphy and likely Tinordi/Zaitsev rotating in and out of the lineup between themselves and with whichever rookies need a break or can’t secure a permanent spot.

Kind of a bummer for Phillips, as he continues to grow season after season but there just isn’t much room in Chicago for him yet. Hopefully he can continue to prove himself in Rockford and secures a more set spot on the Hawks if/when someone on the current blueline gets injured.

I’d rather see Phillips play than Zaitsev. But I’m hoping this means that Phillips gets to play big minutes in Rockford.

I imagine Korchinski gets 9 games and sent back to juniors which would open a spot for Phillips

Guarantee Zaitsev sits most nights. I can see Philips called up and down a lot. He’s the first D man up. Worst case he is traded at some point if future prospects pass him up.

Oilers fan coming in peace that drafted Korchinski on my fantasy team. What do you think the odds are that he plays a full season this year?

Its a keeper league so I plan on keeping him long term, but wondering if he might actually stick for this season

I do not view it as a bummer for Phillips. With Vlasic in the NHL, Phillips will play a huge role with the IceHogs.
