Looks like Jiricek, Blankenburg and Voronkov are sent down.

How did Olivier look during camp? I didn’t see/hear much. Kinda surprised with how consistent that 4th line was last year

    Associated roster moves

Chinakhov, Dumais, Tarasov on injured/non roster list

    Olivier to IR

    Blanks, Jiricek, Voronkov to Cleveland

    Mateychuk to Moose Jaw (WHL)

    Chinakov still injured?

How did Jiricek not make the cut?

Can we please throw Gudbranson into the sun?

This is all basically what I expected. I think there’s around 5-7 guys who made this roster that I suspect jarmo is willing or looking to trade that he doesn’t want to have to put on waivers

  6. I feel like there are not too many surprises here.

Voronkov needs some time to adjust to the North American game, just like Marchenko did. He’s still very young but I would imagine he will be one of the first call ups of injuries occur to see where he is at in his development. I understand he has the Clause in his contract to return to Russia, but I imagine the team will handle his development at his pace… there’s no need to rush him.

As for Blankenberg I thought he may make the roster as a swing 7th but I’m sure he will be a call up as well. I thought Bean was playing pretty well last season until he got hurt and he has a higher ceiling so maybe this wasn’t too big a surprise. His two way deal may have contributed to it, but I think that he can use some time in Cleveland to refine his game. He’s been injury prone and has been physical but maybe some time in Cleveland will help him develop so he’s not putting himself on IR. Also, it’s hard to imagine his long term future with the team given some of the other young guys and the long term contracts.

Bemstrom worked his ass off and maybe Pascal Vincent can unlock his potential, but the blue jackets developing some young guys that they may have rushed (Foudy and Bemstrom) is a good sign for things to come. Developing homegrown talent can’t be understated as a necessary thing for successful clubs and developing young guys = trade bait.

It will be exciting to see what this team does, and will be interesting to see what gymnastics they team pulls to keep guys on the roster when players come off IR.

My prediction is that names such as Rosie, Robinson, Foudy, and Bean will be on the trade block this year.

  8. Damn Junior rules. I really hope Mateychuk doesn’t regress playing below the level he’s shown he is capable of. Super excited for his future here. Would have loved to see him in the A and developing alongside Jiricek and Ceulemans.

Let the line combo guesses commence!

Sad to see Tarry is still injured. 🙁

Nice opportunity for Spencer Martin, wow! Welcome to the cbj, this job could be yours for the taking!

There’s some questions with defense, but damn are those questions a lot quieter than last year. Can’t wait for Thursday!

Not surprised they kept Martin. He has a good attitude.
