This game was pretty much over after Tanev's unfortunate own goal. Seattle got off 30-something shots on net but Hill gobbled up most of those harmless chances and Vegas was stellar as far as keeping shooting lanes shut down to prevent high scoring opportunities. Seattle's lone goal came off a fortunate bounce.
Their 5-minute Major chance could've been 15 minutes and still wouldn't have scored. They just couldn't get much going at all against Vegas and that while missing Martinez and Whitecloud. They ain't the defending champs for nuthin'.
I thought Hill was the best player with Roy right there with him.
And VGK hockey is back! Great win to start the season. This team is showing some real chemistry with their passing and transition game! Go Knights Go!!

as an east coast viewer, I like to watch your recaps of the west coast games the next day because I don’t usually stay up to watch them. Also Vegas looks like they’re picking up right where they left off which is going to be a PROBLEM

Vegas getting a good start of the season should be somewhat scary for the other teams. Especially if Hill shows his playoff performance wasn't a fluke.
0 for 3 tonight, damn. With Mtl, Pit, Ott, and Sea being my top 4, Tampa getting a W sucks for my Canadian teams, losing to Chicago bodes poorly for Pittsburgh, and while an unfortunate loss for Seattle to a division rival, it was against the reigning champs.

The Vegas Golden Two-Way Play has been a big staple of their existence. Defensive forward play and offensive input from defenseman. I'm curious to see how Eichel on the PK works out for the rest of the year. I think its an attempt to replace Smith who was the shorty-maker most times.

What a performance by the defending champs. Doesn’t think this reflects too badly on the Kraken though. Having been in Vegas during the SCF firsthand, T Mobile is insanity and I can only imagine with the Cup celebrations that it added to things.

as a west coaster (here in Vegas) I appreciated the late game start. I miss the start of most games because I can't get off work in time and they obsess about making the Vegas team start at a time that is convenient for people in New Jersey and it doesn't make sense.

I agree this game went too late – and I'm a Knights fan on Pacific time. Granted I have to be up for work at 4:30am and didn't get a post-work nap in today because I wanted to watch as much hockey as I could, so it's mostly on me since I chose to not nap and not turn the game off early and go to bed. No regrets though – our banner is beautiful (even if off-centered) and hockey is back. All is well.
