Detroit came out fast and aggressive in the 1st period, generating a lot of shots and nearly scored FOUR times. Yet it remained 0-0. In period 2 the Devils woke up and completely overwhelmed a disjointed Red Wings squad. Despite this Detroit hung in there, thanks largely to Husso’s efforts. Jack Hughes is unreal. The special teams thrived however though, 2/4 on the PP and 5/6 on the PK. Sprong and DeBrincat scored their firsts as Wings, and Fabbri made it close late. We also address the league’s banning on pride tape. #lgrw

Despite the loss there was lots of positives 2-4 PP Devils 1-6 on PP. Debricat scored, Sprong, scored played a strong game. Husso was very good except the first Hughes goal. Petry however was awful and I believe Raymond needs to go on the top line. Perron is a skillful player but looks like age is starting to be a factor. We had lots of chances in the first and could had at least a couple.
As I said Feb of this past year, Husso is weak on the glove side. The majority of goals that get by are going there. Other teams know this, that's why his save % dropped halfway through last year.
team looked good tonight, clean up the 2nd period and penalities and we might be able to make some noise this year (also buf and ott loss so thats a W)

As a straight white cis male, I loved you guys adding your thoughts on the NHL banning the pride tape. It sends a terrible message to the fans and to a league that has historically struggled with diversity. I saw some people in the live chat saying you shouldn't comment on political issues. Showing acceptance of marginalized groups isn't a political issue. It's a decency issue.
Petry was the worst player on the ice tonight. Overly aggressive pinching in the O-zone, with turnovers galore and poor passing in the D-Zone. Petry-Chiarot both need to play better or they'll get bumped for Maatta-Edvinsson.
I honestly thought they were going to get steam rolled in this game. Jersey is a freaking wagon. So for them to come out and just be in the fight was great to see. Also, even though he didnt have any points, I was happy to see Raymond winning puck battles. And Sprong totally set a pick on Mo that freed up Hughes for that 2nd goal, lol. But you could see the potential the team has once they have more time together.
great start, but once again the wings Achilles heal is flat 2nd periods… hopefully they can get that squared away… but I will say that the refs had some super soft calls in favor of jersey. overall im hopeful that this continues and we can start burying some of our chances!!! #LGRW's
I was pleased by the overall performance, against one of the best teams in this league. PP looks great. Husso was very good despite one questionable goal. Ghost and Holl were awesome. But like you guys, I did not like the Chiarot-Petry duo. I think Maatta would be a better fit with Chiarot TBH. I don't know if they promised anything to Petry (playing time, not being a HS, etc.), but to me, he's a 7D at this point in his career.
Would like to see Raymond on the top line next game and Sprong with Fabbri and Compher. Perron has already played with Copp and Ras. I think Perron playing top line minutes at his age is a bit of a stretch..

I know that there are segments of the fan base that don’t like Pride Tape bc they don’t like “politics” in sports, but to me the tape, and this conversation, are small gestures of inclusion into a hockey (and broader general) culture that so often marginalizes and ostracizes ppl like me. Never mind the fact that the referees are and always will be inconsistent. When Larkin had the stick slashed out of his hands and it wasnt called, definitely changed the ark of the game. Ty for addressing the ban on pride tape as well. Have no idea why they let the vocal minority control the narrative. I think it was a step backwards and i also believe Bettman was being Bettman. Whether thats a literal bad guy or a WWE version of a bad guy, i dont know.
They played well for most of the game. The refs sucked as usual for both sides but you can say that every game.

That first goal was such a back breaker to let in by Husso. He played well but that goal is inexcusable

lots of question marks on the roster for me considering prospect talent… anyway on a good note Walman was a beast tonight. Proving himself more every game. Was one of the best players on the ice. Along with Sprong.

Let me get this straight, if the NHL says don't put clown colors all over your stick, which essentially is a dress code, then they aren't "inclusive?" What exactly do the LGBTQ+-_/ "community" have to be proud about anyway? If the argument is that sexual preference or God forbid "gender identity" is an immutable characteristic, which to my understanding is what they are arguing, then why would they have any reason to be proud of such a thing? It would be like saying I'm proud to have brown hair, or I'm proud that I am 5'08 inches tall. There is nothing you can do about any of these things and none of them represent an accomplishment to be proud of. This whole thing is ridiculous.
Perron is too old, slow, and poor at skating to be playing against other teams top line players. He gets beat and takes stupid penalties after getting beat. Come on now. He needs to be on the 3rd line with Rass and copp. 2nd line sprong fabri and compher. Keep razor on line 1.

My thanks to the Wings for the extra money last night. 8/9 here at the beginning of season 3 as an NHL sports better. Good effort but as expected, a L. First time I've ever bet against the Wings. No longer. Just a beginning.
