With what? A coupon for unlimited hotdogs for life? We don’t have any cap space even if it was a good idea.

I would love to see Kessel back in a Leafs uniform but I think we need to give the current group a shot.

Nah, nowhere to put him. Doesn’t generate enough offense anymore to be in top 6, doesn’t have enough defensive ability to play bottom 6 with the kids+grinders. Honestly he isn’t much of anything anymore other than a guy who could pot a few and be a warm body on a struggling team to try and bridge the gap for their younger, more promising guys to come up. He doesn’t have a role here anymore, and I’m saying this as a huge Kessel fan.

If he was the 12th forward maybe, but you can’t have Reaves and Kessel on the same roster.

My heart says yes. But my brain says FUCK YES

I don’t think he has particularly fond memories playing here and I doubt he would want to sign here just to sit up in the press box for the majority of games.

Leafs should 100% sign Phil Kessel….to replace Steve Simmons as one of the people asking players questions

If we had the space he’d be a sick 4th line add as a playoff backup option who was mostly out of the line up but, if we ran into “Bob” again and NO ONE in the league can score like last year; but we need D, end of story and the roster is too tight.

Say we succumbed to some injuries and needed reinforcements. Would people rather have Kessel or Nick Robertson in the lineup?

  10. Part of me wants to see him put on that Leaf jersey again and finally have a chance to play on a really good Leafs team like Schenn just did. But I just don’t see a fit.

Plus Toronto already is in a bit of a cap crunch when Timmins comes off LTIR so signing another FA makes no sense at this point.

If the cap didn’t exist, I’d love it if he was signed and rotated out with a bottom 6 winger in nothing games. Or have him in the playoffs to finally win a Cup…with the Leafs.

I think Kessel still has a role on a team. Just not ours currently. I still miss the The Thrill too.

Id love to see kessel as a conditioning coach or something

If we want a scoring winger who’s production isn’t a sure thing and has a lot of gaps in their game, I’d rather give the spot to Robertson. At least he has the potential to grow with the team and has a decade on Phil.
