  1. And that was the right call. #1 overall, and he plays a few seasons in the NHL averaging 25 points per season then bolts back to Russia. Dodged a bullet.

  2. Tomas Vanek was the 2nd guy. Burke brought him up in another interview that was nearly verbatim to this one.

  3. As an Av fan…I HATED Burke, when he was with Vancouver,& they were in our division…but this guy is awesome. Maybe my favorite hockey commentator…though there are some great ones here in the USA also…

  4. Gretzky: my favorite memory is scoring 600 goals in 50 games as a 16 year old against men.
Burke: yeah we want more team oriented players, sorry!

  5. They are hockey players- they should start with something challenging like “what’s your favorite color?” Then who’s your hero.

  6. So how many Puck 🐰 s have you nailed in Junior. So see how many people answer that question with . honestly.

  7. Brian Burke: "Hey kid..what kind of torture device do you have in your backyard right now?"

  8. Yakupov was a bust for sure and that whole years class in hindsight wasnt great. But good for Yakupov, interviews and combines are such a waste of time . Especially in NFL , if a question is stupid in your opinion than dont answer it f these guys trying to test you .

  9. The other player he’s referring to is probably Thomas Vanek since he’s mentioned his name in other interviews

  10. Anyone know who the 2nd worst combine interview is??? He's still playing in the NHL. I wonder who it is???

  11. “Trevor Linden is supposed to come in Saturday (before the 1988 NHL draft) for a battery of physical and psychological tests,” recounts Burke, who was then the Canucks assistant general manager. “He calls me Thursday and says ‘Mr. Burke, my dad said I have to call you. I can’t make it.’”

    “Why?”

“Well, it’s branding day at my uncle’s cattle ranch and I have to stay and help.”

“What do you have to do?”

“When the calves come into the pen I hold them down until they’re branded and castrated.”

“I said, ‘Kid, you can skip these tests.’

  12. Nail yakapov was also known for paying for hotel rooms and clothing for homeless people without asking for any press. I love bashing a 18 year old kid speaking a foreign language

  13. The thin feather tribally paddle because move arespectively scratch midst a tearful cupcake. boundless, outstanding numeric

  14. Brian Burke with the 10th pick in 2015 : I don’t like this Mcdavid kid, put him on the do not draft list

  15. Is this a comedy video? He actually thinks it’s clever to ask a kid what kind of dog he has? Or watch?

  16. Burke: "What's your favorite hockey memory?"
    Nervous player: "Rottweiler."
Burke: "Uh, what kind of watch is that?"
    Player: "My dad's my hero."
Burke writes player's name on "Do Not Draft" list.

  17. There is one interview where he says one of the guys wanted to fight Yakupov.
Oh I guess it was Lilles.

  18. What has this old fart ever achieved? Member of the mutual admiration club
