Injury Lines

[With Boldy likely out of the lineup next game

Currently the only D they can afford is Mermis, and the only F are Letteri and Khaira, if I remember correctly. Especially factoring in Saturday’s defense, what can they do to ice a decent team?

Ottawa is in a spot where they have enough injured players right up at the cap that they can use the “play shorthanded for a game and then you can call up a low salary guy” cap loophole. At what point are the Wild looking at the same boat?

Looks like Russo thinks we’re going 11F/7D and double shifting Kaprizov

Some people also mentioned during pre-season that guys like Boldy, Faber, and Rossi are waiver exempt, and could be assigned “in between games” to Iowa (on paper) to accrue cap space. Russo pretty much shut that down, saying it’s probably not going to be accepted by the league and the players would hate it. However, with a Boldy injury, would it be worth sending him to Iowa for a few days just to be able to pull up players to cover these injuries? Is that something Boldy would even agree to?

Addy has played wing before. I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing that again

11/7 tomorrow. Mermis has a lot to gain. If he looks better than Merrill, I could see a world where Merrill is sent to Iowa and Mermis sticks around while Spurgeon is out. I liked Mermis’s game when he had a couple spot starts last year. We wouldn’t save all of Merrill’s $1.2M, but I think it would still be more than Mermis’s $775k

Gotta get Rossi a couple shifts with Kaprizov just to see, I think
