    >Tier 1: Bubble Elite NHL Player and NHL All-Star

    >1 . Matty Beniers, C
    2. Luke Hughes, D

    >Not surprisingly, the reigning Calder Trophy winner leads a re-listing of the 2021 eligible players. Beniers looks like the kind of center you can build a winner around with high-end two-way play. He has every trait you want in a top center even if his pure skill isn’t off the charts.

    >After Beniers there are reasonable arguments for three different players as the second best player, maybe four. My lean is toward Hughes because of his unique and dynamic toolkit between his elite skating, to go with good size and offensive skills. I know I have a reputation as the high man on Hughes. I’m sticking my neck out a bit given how good Owen Power and Mason McTavish have looked in the NHL, but I believe Hughes’ game will translate just as well.

    >Tier 2: NHL All-Star

    >3 . Owen Power, D
    4. Mason McTavish, C

    >The first four picks from the draft remain the top four ranked players two years later. Power is a mobile defenseman with legit size and hockey sense in a massive frame. McTavish is highly skilled and competitive with strong skating. They are players who check every box you want and project as top players at premium positions for a long time.
