I was a Wings fan for years. After winning their last championship, Marion Hossa left for Pittsburgh and the Pens became champs. With all the extra playoff hockey champions okay, eventually, they get old. That is how I view the Bolts. Great team with a great run. Losing to Toronto left one heck of bad aftertaste.
I honestly think the team is going to be better this year than last year by a margin. We were essentially playing with three lines and a tired/injured group all season long, same story as the season prior. This year they actually got rest and the mini retool has me optimistic. If Joho and Tomkins can keep us around .500+ until Vasy gets back, we are making the playoffs easily.
Really optimistic about this team… no more fourth line dinosaurs … all the experience we need in our core and we brought in hungry somewhat younger guys with something to prove. We got a little bit bigger and a little bit faster. Just have to hope offense can hold up for the defense and goal tending until that stuff is figured out… but I think people are sleeping on this team.
