I love the smirk too after he scores. Everyone in that league is his bitch now
I have such high hopes for this kid
This kid is an absolute stud, it’s crazy that he’s this good at 18
Oh and by the way, its very difficult to score in the SHL. Raymond had 6 total goals in his d+1 year in 33 games. Edvinsson with 2 in 44 games.
Did he have an assist rescinded as prior to tonight’s game he was 4+1 whereas after the weekend’s games he was 4+2?
What’s the potential upside for this guy?
I was amazed at how dynamic Karlson was last game. if ASP can even be a low end version of that, sign me up
This kid is so fucking sick
You gotta think they’ve been seeing something special in this kid since before this breakout, given the pictures of him with Lidstrom and the video of him practicing shots and hitting one-on-one with Kronwall. I don’t recall everyone getting that sort of personalized attention. That interview Yzerman gave after the ASP selection was memorable because he just looked and sounded so giddy because he got the guys he knew he wanted.
On a side note, I think it’s funny that so many people held ASP’s size against him. If you look at recent Norris winners/contenders, Makar, Fox, and Hughes are all under 6 feet and not particularly heavy. The way ASP plays, he doesn’t really need the extra size. His hockey IQ is really high and his skating is above average, really fluid and quite fast when he wants to be. I remember one draft report (although I can’t recall the source) saying his shot was a distinguishing feature because it’s super accurate, so I guess that’s what we’re seeing here. Very exciting.
