The Colorado Avalanche defeat the Chicago Blackhawks in their home opener this season with a score of 4-0 off the back of Alexandar Georgiev. Goals came from a short-handed effort from Logan O’Connor marking his second short-hander of the season in consecutive games followed by Ryan Johansen scoring his first in an Avalanche sweater. Later in the game, the Avs had a goal from Miles Wood disallowed due to off-sides but was quickly recaptured by Devon Toews. Nathan MacKinnon ended the night putting his second of the season over the shoulder of Mrazek.

I was at the game. Mrazek played well. It would have been 8-0 with a lesser goalie in net.
