On today’s episode of Locked on Wild, Alex Micheletti joins as we recap a frustrating loss to Columbus. We discuss the defense through the first 5 games of the season, and more concerningly, the high level of turnovers that have led to additional chances for opposing teams. We discuss the Wild looking slow, and too many players having little to no impact on large stretches of games. We discuss Vinni Lettieri being called up, and why the players from Iowa shouldn’t be put in a position to have to save the Wild from their struggles. We look at the line combinations, and discuss the need to put everything in a blender. We make a comparison to the Minnesota Vikings after their NFC Championship Game appearance, with the common thread being retaining players that got to a particular level of performance, despite their advanced ages, and why it has put the Wild in a very real predicament going forward. Unfortunately we do not have answers to many of the questions posed in this show, but we will continue to try to find these answers as the season unfolds.

I want to hear from the "In Billy we trust" rubes. I want to hear from the rubes what the Wild options are ? Trading for Reavo won't work. That was last year. The GM just extended Hartman. He must add to the culture or something…
Ya know, the contracts to Foligno, Hartman, zucc, Goose, and merril i feel are gonna handcuff our team just as bad as the buy outs. Should have learned a lesson from Goose and merril. I would rather see Lambos and mermis roll out each night as well as an option to bring the boys up.
Frustrating to see Kirill be a complete non factor in a game.

Vibes are definitely not good right now
It was refreshing when Guerin 1st came in an "drained the Edina Country Club swamp", and also bought out the horrendous Parise/Suter contracts. The old guard was finally gone and there appeared to be a clear 5 year plan = low cost short term contracts to navigate thru cap hell to get to 2025. Minor retooling tweaks along the way in preparation for the highly touted prospect pool….Fast-forward to today, and it appears as though Guerin has created his own new "swamp" by signing older vets to longer contracts with NMC. Sure, the prospect pool doesnt appear to be nearly as good as once believed but I am not sure he needed to tie up over $12M in cap space on 3 Vets. Ugh. I dont see what the plan is now. If my name was Kirill I would request a trade as tbat mught now be the best thing for both the club and Kirill.
