Why a franchise record 6 Boston Bruins wins to start a season matters regardless of opposition

The Boston Bruins are 6-0-0. They tied a franchise record for wins to start a season with a 3-0 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.

A Connor Bedard goal was called back, and overall they held the rookie phenom without a shot.

Yes they haven’t had the toughest schedule, but wins are wins and it’s a heck of a lot better than going 0-6-0. Goaltending has been huge, and they’ll need it to remain strong with tougher opponents on deck.

Matt Poitras’ impact has been undeniable, and it seems very likely that his OHL days are over.

Plus, the Bruins now have a chance to make team history in the Centennial Season, which is pretty neat!

  1. these are Big wins! Get them when we can, at the end of the year these point will matter.

i have bruins in the 7-8th spot by end of year, if we keep getting this kind of goal tending we could push for 104-110pts, we still need a true top 6 forward

  2. I dont understand this "inferior opponents" narrative. I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but we are closer to the kings and predators than we are to the top cup contenders. This isn't the same team as years past, and there's a lot of mediocre talent on the team this year. We aren't a true cup contender, so we should be enjoying any wins we can get instead of whining about those wins. It's a bad look and makes the fan base sound pretty entitled tbh. This team is first round fodder if they even make the playoffs, which is like a 50/50 chance.

  3. The fanbase is so F’d sometimes … if they were 0-6-0 they’d be calling for heads to roll. The Bs SHOULD be beating these teams, no question. So build up this buffer and when the time comes that they DO struggle against some of the better teams, you have those points in hand. Enjoy the Ws!

  4. If Poitra continues this type of play to game 40 we will definitely be talking the rookie of the year for him instead of Bedard.

  5. Six wins against weak teams but wins are wins and the Bruins will take those wins any way they can.

  6. Just wait till the d starts scoring…great start 12 points….terrific

  7. Great start Boys!!! Take those points!!! Sure these teams have been the less than great (good) but any west coast swing is tough regardless! Team looks like it’s starting to come together with quite a few new faces. If we can juggle lines and improve while STILL WINNING then we should be smiling. This team has plenty of talent. Anyone remember how much talent last years team had? And then… come on fans, let’s fucking go…fantastic start…play hard and I’ll be happy. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

  8. Don't get too excited before the Bruins play the Wings, Leafs and Avs and see what happens.

  9. This is fun! A win
    is a win
    is a win
    is a win.

Are we going to get all picky now?

What new player can our defense not take on? What's changed?

Our defense has seen every player in the league. Why are we looking for drama?

We only want pretty krejci and Bergeron wins?

Now the quality of wins has to be over analyzed?

These are all fresh teams – everybody's a cup contender right now.

It's not so much the Bruins are winning, what we're seeing is a team that absolutely refuses to lose.

Sort of like the Panthers last playoffs

It's called having a collective chip on their shoulder and it's been proven very effective particularly in 1972!

And I think Tim Thomas can tell you about something to prove helping his game.

But we're going to keep listening to gambling statistics – didn't learn from last year?

    Don't worry about it Ian
    Tell the haters:
    A win
    is a win
    is a win
    is a win.

And there's a big difference between winning, and not losing

Play a sport and they might learn something new 🤔
