Recap Game: Habs vs Sabres

Recap of the Habs vs Sabres Thriller! 🏒

Tanner Pearson’s insurance marker in the dying minutes cued the “Ole!” chants in Buffalo, as the Canadiens celebrated a 3-1 win over the Sabres at KeyBank Center on Monday.

Jake Allen answered the bell on multiple occasions against the Blue and Gold, steering aside 36 shots en route to the Habs’ first road win of the season.

The Canadiens’ netminder has now stopped 67 of the last 70 shots he’s faced dating back to Saturday’s game against the Capitals.

At the other end of the rink, Justin Barron broke the deadlock early in Monday’s contest, before Brendan Gallagher and Pearson sealed the win for the visitors.

Pearson’s multi-point effort stretched his point streak to four games, while David Savard stayed hot in Buffalo, recording a fourth assist in his last three games at KeyBank Center.

  1. Closely contested? Half of the teams in the NHL would have won that game. It is true, there has been many slow starts in this year's NHL, it will play out the way it should as the season moves along. Great start for the habs, and what a night for Fredericton native Jake Allen, he's #1 for Montreal, looking forward to Monty in đŸ„…

    See you tonight,
    Good morning ☕

  2. It's a long season, people are going to step up and go through slumps. I hope Gally can prove the haters wrong over the long run.

  3. These are healthy versions of these players.

Let's hope they can keep up their good health.

Just be careful putting the old guys out to pasture too soon on a team that's "in development."

Gallagher has a role – he can be effective for 12 minutes a game.

Don't expect anything more nor less and he won't disappoint.

Somebody's got to do the dirty work & dominate that blue paint.

Especially for a team that's" in development."

  4. However, Allen has been the first star in two consecutive games. Jake has two wins and has not yet lost a game in regulation this season. in three games, Allen has a 2.58 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. Monahan continues to step up as the leader at faceoff and savvy play. Pearson has surprised me with his grit, forechecking and reads on the plays. Cheers

  5. My thought exactly, Jake Allen on Brendan Gallagher, "He’s good 20 feet from goal. He still has it. It wasn’t pretty, it was a goal like the other night."

  6. The Sabres peppered the Canadiens goal with 69 shot attempts. Jake Allen was outstanding making 36 saves. Buffalo dominated 5-on-5 play with 12 high-danger chances to just four for Montreal. . According to Sabres head coach Don Granato, his team did not convert their chances. "I thought that their goaltender played real well," said Granato.

  7. Kovacevic quietly led all Habs skaters in even-strength ice time. He has developed into a highly dependable defensive defenseman. The young 'D' had Barron with a goal, Harris and Xhekaj were solid again as well. Savard appeared to have a habd injury but no updates.

  8. ALERT: Defenseman David Savard will be out indefinitely with an upper-body injury. per Montreal Canadians release

  9. The Montreal Canadiens have recalled defenseman Gustav Lindström from their AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket, on an emergency basis.
