Additional information
-Shane Pinto did not bet on NHL games
-The suspension is retroactive to the Ottawa Senators first game of the season
-The Senators have rescinded all previous contract offers
If it's "retroactive to the Ottawa Senators first game of the season", what does that mean when it doesn't start until he's signed? The games between the start of the season and now wouldn't count towards the 41 games regardless!
NHLPA says Shane Pinto will not be appealing the 41-game suspension, this was a negotiated resolution between all parties.
This suspension was brought to you by Bet99
Maybe the league should take a long look at themselves, and stop promoting gamling like its the second coming of Christ.
What am I missing here? For this, but Kane gambling his entire fortune away publicly wasn't a problem? Where's the difference is what I'm wondering
The NHL literally force-feeds betting down everyones throat but when a player bets on another sport their like nope ur never playing again
I'm still unclear on how the NHL suspends a player who currently has no valid NHL contract. They are suspending him 41 games for betting on sports. Isn't their entire new business model desperate to get everyone betting on sports?
What is Brady Tkachuk likely to get suspended for attempted murder? Two Games? One ??? None.
But when does your suspension kick in if there is no contract. Do the games he has missed already count? If he isn't under contract isn't he free of NHL rules and obligations?
Isn't he just a guy betting on football? Aren't there all sorts of NHL players with fantasy football teams and isn't that betting on sports?
Please stop with these clickbait titles. Just put the news there
He didn’t bet on NHL games, I see nothing wrong.
Omg trade him to the flyers for frost.
The trade was reportedly already being considered, it gives Ottawa a young cost controlled player that fits their scheme and can help right away, and the flyers are tanking, despite current record, and can wait for the suspension to be lifted. It also clears the roster spot since frost has been stuck sitting because of logjam.
Do it Ottawa! It helps us both
Why is it legal for everyone? Either it’s legal or not. This is hypocritical. Plus the fact that there are many ads for these betting sites all over the NHL.
The rules were clear in this case. If you want to make the big bucks and a rule is no recreational gambling, then you have to accept the consequences.
Tip of the iceberg when it comes to gambling in pro sports
If he wasn’t betting on hockey who gives a fuck
Maybe by then they’ll have cap space to even sign him?!
Never a dull day in Sens hockey
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA – Red Wings fan.
In the football world there currently a huge gambling case brewing as well. Newcastle's and Italy's Sandro Tonali is facing probably about 7-12 month ban for gambling on his team's matches.
I'd love to know when the bet was made. Cause if it was during the summer, and he wasn't on an nhl contract, why can't he bet? Or was it that he was betting on contract and I missed something
So Im confused. If he's not betting on Sens games what's the problem? I don't see a COI if he's putting 5 bucks on the Sharks vs Sabres (obviously it wouldn't be 5 bucks but u get my point) cause he's saying he thinks this team is going to win. Or is the league concerned that friends on opposite teams (for example Sandin and Nylander betting on Sabres Leafs games not against each other) affecting player performance. Also if he's betting on non NHL games who cares? its his money he should be able to do what he wants with it.
