Certainly not the Coyotes, the Dbacks have won a title. I’d say it’s more like Dallas (Dbacks) and San Jose (Texas)

That would mean Stars vs Lightning finals rematch. Not that crazy.

American League vs National League. It’s their version of Western Conference vs Eastern Conference
mysteresc
Arizona: a team that got hot enough at the end of the season to make the playoffs, and kept it going to make the championship round. One championship in its history.
Texas: a team built for the playoffs if it could stay healthy enough to make it. It did, and here we are. Zero championships in its history.
So, Florida vs. Winnipeg.

Wild and Florida 2 teams that everyone forget exists but are actually pretty decent.

It’s called a whole bunch of salt! Can’t get to the championship if you lose!

Imagine if the sabres (a team with a lack of history of championships, like the rangers) played the ducks (a team with one championship but not much else) in the cup final. Both teams came off prolonged losing periods and even some pretty terrible seasons not too long ago.

Florida Panthers (Texas Rangers) – High scoring team with a decent bankroll to attract some big name players come trade deadline but occasionally sucks ass and finishes last in the division. Somehow never won a championship even though they’ve had the talent and roster to do it a few times.

Mighty Ducks of Anaheim (Arizona Diamondbacks) – More bad than good lately but they have won a championship in living memory. Had some really solid years a while back and changes their logo frequently to try and appease fans but their best logo and jerseys were late 90s early 2000s.

Coyotes v Stars
FedjiSalleek
A team that always spends a lot and has had good players throughout its history but has never won, and a forgotten team who never spends, never had a really great player throughout its history other than the big unit but has won once.
In NHL terms id say rangers = SJ Sharks And Arizona = Carolina Hurricanes or Anaheim Ducks

Diamondbacks; 168 points. Rangers; 180 points.
No ties in baseball. Play until there is a winner. No line changes. If you come out of the game, you do not go back in. If you play long enough you might not have a full team standing to keep playing.
Both teams made it through the brackets to the finals.

Geographically… …imagine the league is divided the way it was during the 2021 shortened season (throw Seattle into the North Division for balance or whatever). The North and West Divisions make up the Campbell Conference and the Central and East are the Wales Conference.
Say the Coyotes make the playoffs as #3 in the West while a Presidents Trophy favorite – let’s go with Vegas – shockingly doesn’t get in. Then AZ sweeps Minnesota, impressing many. Then they sweep Colorado, and everyone’s like, “Okay nobody’s beating them; they’re finally winning The Cup.” But then, whoever survives the North bracket – let’s say the Habs ‘cause they won in reality – takes them to Game 7, which is in Montreal… …but that doesn’t matter, and the Yotes win their first Campbell Bowl on the road.
Meanwhile, the Stars dominate the Central all season, but lose some games near the end and find themselves in a 3-way tie for 1st, but based on the tiebreakers they’re #3 in the Central (say Tampa Bay’s #2 and Carolina’s #1). Dallas responds by sweeping both the Bolts and Canes back-to-back. They then face Pittsburgh, who went wire-to-wire 1st place in the East during the regular season, but didn’t look as dominant in the first 2 rounds of the playoffs. The Stars take Games 1 & 2 in Pittsburgh, both close games. The Pens take Games 3 & 4 in Dallas; Game 3’s a nail-biter while Game 4’s a route. Embarrassed, the Stars whoop the Pens in Game 5 on the road. The Pens respond by winning a fairly-close Game 6 to deny the Stars from winning the Wales Trophy at home… …only for the Stars to CLOBBER them in Game 7 in Pittsburgh; a bizarre sight as the Stars win their first Wales Trophy.
And that’s my imaginary context for how the Coyotes could meet the Stars in the most-cursed Stanley Cup Final that Gary Bettman would tell you is good for the game or whatever.

I’d go with Coyotes vs. Stars because one team is from Arizona and the other is from the Dallas area.

Texas Rangers: Perennial overspenders and consistent playoff choke artists. NHL equivalent: Toronto Maple Leafs.
Arizona Diamondbacks: Middling team that got hot and are beating teams they have no business beating. NHL equivalent: 2019 St. Louis Blues.
