It’s a strategic, thought-out plan for protecting one of the team’s most valuable assets. The exact opposite of what the Angels would do.

I know some fans are probably punching air right now, but it’s for the better. They’re easing him into it, and I’m pretty sure that when he’s sitting games, he’s practicing to be even better next game. We aren’t supposed to get much done this season, so even if we lose because he’s not in the lineup, it’s not going to be a problem.

If I were a betting man, I’d bet on Carlsson being a top 10 player in the next couple of years.

Granted we’ve had a few conversations re: Leo the past few days…

I’m more curious how Killorn slots in. $6M+ player, where does he go?

Maybe when Leo is scratched, Zegras moves back to 1C, and Killorn takes the 1LW.

When Leo is here, who’s on that 1LW? You’d think Zegras, as you don’t want to prioritize development TOI for an aging Killorn.

Or do you put Killorn on the 2nd, despite the fact that Vatrano and co are doing really well as a unit?

Or does Killorn go down to 3LW, displacing Jones?

This isn’t new either. Look at Stamkos’ rookie year. They kept his minutes down really hard at the start and ramped him up as the season went on.

  5. I love the way they’re developing him. It’s not often that there’s a player so raw but also NHL ready. It’s pretty obvious that he can already play at the NHL level as a solid top 6 forward. Putting on muscle, a bit more acceleration, and a better shot is what he needs to really grow into the elite tier.
