Wearing an ad ≠ permission to take part in. It’s harsh yeah but let’s stop acting like these guys are children that have no self control. They know the rules. If their paycheck isn’t motivation enough to follow those rules, that’s their problem.

Utter bullshit and the height of hypocrisy. I can’t stand watching the shit because it’s constantly talking about gambling. Even the broadcast has guys doing gambling plugs. FUCK THIS SHIT!

Right? That’s pretty much what we’re all thinking right?

Except that’s not what he got suspended for. You can gamble legally on other sports if you’re an NHL player. What he was doing was proxy betting which is not legal and there is a non zero chance his proxy bet on hockey.

As I said before. Stupid business move for the MHL to not accept betting money

I don’t understand why you can’t bet on your own team to win. I realize that’s not what happened here but I’m just saying

He must have done something worse…gambling alone can’t be that bad

And a suspension 4 times longer than any suspension you get for plays that seriously injure players.

The same problem plagues the footballing world. So many betting websites, especially overseas, are the main kit sponsor for most clubs. Hell, some entire leagues are sponsored by betting sites. And the governing bodies are surprised that their athletes are betting all the time… wonder where they got the idea…
