GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Senators (10.28.23) | Saturday Night Showdown



The Pittsburgh Penguins battled against the Ottawa Senators Saturday night at PPG Paints Arena. On a power play early in the 1st, Ridly Greig redirected a puck into the net giving Ottawa the lead. Later in the period, Brady Tkachuk added to the lead with a quick snap shot on the rush. The Penguins were relentless, generating multiple scoring chances and tallying 22 shots on net. The period ended 2-0 in favor of Ottawa. The Penguins continued to generate chances in the 2nd, but the bounces were not in favor of Pittsburgh. Ottawa got a third goal but a coach’s challenge disallowed the goal due to offsides. Minutes later the Senators scored a good goal bringing the score to 3-0. Magnus Hellberg was put into the net. With only a few minutes remaining in the 2nd, Sidney Crosby tipped in a pass on the backdoor from Bryan Rust to end the period 3-1. Pittsburgh continued to generate chances in the 3rd, but Ottawa added to their lead with goals from Drake Batherson and a second from Tkachuk. In the last minute of the game, Jake Guentzel ripped a shot from the high slot. The game ended 5-2 for the Senators.

  1. Remember when we got rid of Therrien because our team was good but the system wasn’t working, and then we brought in Bylsma and won a cup? Good times.

  2. clearly pat themselves on the back after Colorado. really disappointing effort, but entirely predictable. this group is cooked, and im fine with that. its been a helluva ride. watching this rebuild will be really exciting!

  3. best thing this team can do is trade karlsson at the deadline and get a first rounder back again
