It is not the first time they have had a rocky start in recent history, but they need to turn it around quickly.

  1. Being a goalie for the Oilers is like playing Call of Duty World at War on Veteran. YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE

  2. The thing that stands out the most to me is the Evan Bouchard 8 points in 6 games but a -8 stat. Thats actually nuts. As a fan of the Oilers who has watched every game so far this year, you can tell hes our weakest link on the back end. He either has to go or get buried in 3rd pairing or PP defense.

  3. Maybe they throw Campbell on waivers? Bury his contract in the minors until he gets his game back? Trade for a low risk high reward goalie?

  4. Defence, and forecheck intensively, for one.The other would be flipping Ryan Nuggent Hopkins to the center position instead of the wing.I would move Cambell for a better option, but with what you got, defence.Make sure that your pairings are a right shot d with a left d.If you have 2 lefts it will cause turnovers in the neutral zone leading to breakaways.Nuggent Hopkins was an excellent center, and his assists totals show it.Once Connor comes back things will be different

  5. Watching the game againt the Rangers at the moment a few days after this video. 3-0 Rangers after 2……..brutal times as an Edmonton fan

  6. I agree…no panic. But Concern? Yes, definitely Concern. I will also agree with two other staples of thought on the Oilers: some of the roster isn't good enough (although they are all NHL players, some are being placed in positions where they seem to fail and fail again), and it is completely on the players within the room (and the coaching staff) to fix this. As far as Ken Holland, I admit to being a fan of his work, but can admit – some of this falls on him. Still, Ken HAS assembled a roster that, when everything is clicking and the players feel good about themselves, IS able to compete for a championship. I think it is also fair to say, that building a roster when three players take up an awful lot of your salary cap, Absolutely REQUIRES a strong feeder system – and, so far, the Oilers as an organization have failed in that regard, not enough (especially scorers) coming up from the minors. Its gonna be an interesting season for the Oil. A learning season for them, wherein they will learn whether or not they can truly adapt, play a system, and compete with the big boys, or not.

  7. Goaltending and defense are the oils glaring holes. Campbell and skinner have shown flashes of being starter material but then other games look like they’re barely good enough to even be in the NHL full time. The defense on the other hand is just horrific to watch. Bouchard is putting up numbers, but can’t play defense to save his life, and Darnell nurse is getting paid more money than Makar, fox, and almost every NHL defenseman and yet is still playing like garbage. Really sad to see because if they had a free 9 million to spend I’m sure the team could pick up a huge asset

  8. I wonder if they've put too much pressure on themselves to win the cup and have stopped playing their game. At least goalscorers going through a dry spell can get some relief from the pressure when the dam finally breaks but less chance for a whole team hyper-focused on the cup. They might simply be wiffing under too much pressure. Tough to balance achieving the ultimate goal (pun intended) with just playing the game.
