Jim Montgomery: Matt Poitras STAYING with Bruins | Press Conference

BRIGHTON — The Boston Bruins are keeping Matthew Poitras. Boston had until Tuesday to decide whether the 19-year-old rookie would remain with the NHL club past nine games or go back to his Junior club.

Bruins’ coach Jim Montgomery said the decision was pretty simple.

“He’s sticking around. He just belongs.”

Montgomery did not guarantee Poitras will remain with Boston all season.
The 2022 second-round draft choice has three goals and five points in his nine-game stint with the Bruins.

  1. He battles hard and wins alot of battles …. He is a gift from the Hockey gods and the second round picks work out for Boston …

  2. I'm sure the kid will hit a wall at some point and have his share of struggles like all youngsters, but for the present, he appears to be the only center on this team where offence does not go to die. His defensive game isn't too shabby either. His skating, puck control and agility remind me of Marchand.

  3. I'm really impressed by his play. I think he's a real prospect. and you take them when you get them. some guys fit in and some just never do. it's never for sure. And the best part is that he's under no pressure because no one expected anything from him so he's a pleasant surprise.

  4. 1:09 "I'm waiting for Donny to tell him." Did Monty mean that they haven't actually told Poitras yet? I couldn't hear the question. If so, seems weird they would not tell him first. Pretty sure This will obviously get back to Poitras.
