I’m sure this will be full of reasonable takes.

  2. -ChasingOrange-

Two major issues I’ve noticed this season so far:

    1. We give WAY too many breakaway chances for the other team.
    2. We rarely get any breakaway chances.

This feels like a major lapse in our defensive systems and poor zone control and positioning. We have way too much talent on our team to be playing this way and I hope that Lalonde and the rest of our coaching staff addresses this while it’s still early in the a season.

  3. Can’t go 0/5 against the worst PK in the league and expect to win.

  4. CalgaryCheekClapper

What a brutal disappointment . Huge divisional game, FLA missing top 2 D, bennett, worst PK in the league and wings dont show at all

  5. DullHornedUnicorn

Can we go back to opening week when we were fun to watch?

  6. culturedrobot

GGs to the valiant Wings bros who tried to jinx the shutout only for the universe to say “fuck you.” It was a hearty effort nevertheless.

  7. xenonwarrior666

Someone must have slipped a magnet in the puck. Could have been a 3-0 shut out our way of everything went well.

  8. Redredwings53

I am a kinda new hockey fan but… Is it just that the Red Wings are not aggressive as other teams or what 😩

  9. AlphaRemixHD

We have not been the same since the Seattle game

  10. ForkzUp

tbh, while playing crap, we only lost by one (real) goal to last year’s SC finalist. Wasn’t pretty to watch though.

  11. tonuch4963

That game wasn’t bad. It was tight in both directions and a bad bounce lost it for us. But the play was even, PP needs to make a difference but teams seem to have figured it out.

  12. Sckibble

I’m just so confused how we start the season the way we did and struggle on offense so quickly

  13. Mendoza8914

Can’t believe we made Z’s kid sit through that garbage. I was pleasantly surprised with the hot start to the season, but this team is starting to look very familiar to me.

  14. GoodPoint3232

Andrew Copp does not work here. That contract was bad the second the ink dried and it gets worse every game.

Derek Lalonde needs to figure it out soon because lose to Boston and we’re back to .500 after a scorched earth start. Not liking what I’m seeing at all.

  15. jaredsurreddit

I liked when we had a red-hot power play and could score goals

  16. Shotokanguy

It is beyond fucking ridiculous that this is the same team that looked so good in the first period of Game #1. We came out flying against the Devils and now this team looks like a bunch of AHLers.

All night Florida was just going after the puck carrier with full intensity, and all night the Wings didn’t find a way to deal with that. Some of that is on the players, some of that is on the coaching. But the way their 5 on 5 play has looked the last several games, I’m leaning towards the coaches not figuring something out.

  17. I missed most of the game, tell me how to feel!

  18. MajorasShoe

If this team doesn’t healthy scratch a player or two and make a callup I don’t know what we’re doing here.

The energy and effort is just gone.

  19. Longated

I’m not sold on LaLonde. Team comes out red hot and absolutely dies out after 2 weeks. Other teams seem to be adjusting to us, but we’re not evolving, and this seems to have been the common theme for years now.

  20. jaredsurreddit

So many posts… I feel like we’ve hit the most posts so far this season

  21. Sckibble

On the bright side it’s looking like the sens and lighting will both lose in regulation too

  22. Educational_Series68

What do we need to do to beat Florida and Bob? Yeesh.

  23. redwingjv

I want a refund for paying money to attend that game in person. Most boring game of my life, 2 goals, 1 an empty netter and 1 a fluke weird goal fml lol

  24. ayo_shawty

The rink was basically empty for the last 5 minutes and I can’t even blame the crowd.

*Really* weak offensive effort this game. We’re lucky it was held to that fluke of a goal and an empty netter.

It could have been so much worse. Florida was the better team without question.

  25. lilja_4_mvp

That overachieving start really fooled some people.

    This team is not good.

  26. wonder_breadcar

Coaching staff needs to make some major adjustments. Dump and chase isn’t working. Powerplay has been cold for over a week now. Only successful zone entries I remember in the last few minutes were Sprong, Raymond, and Larkin just doing it solo maintaing puck possession

  27. el_Technico

What an underwhelming performance. When are the star players gonna step up and carry the team the way they need to?

  28. That’s a painful game to not get a point in.

Between Reimers catch/miss & Ras’s post, it could have gone a different way.

  29. MyJazzDukeSilver

Bob stole one. Vezina goalies gonna do that sometimes.

  30. MentalTourniquet

Signing big players that check like they are a foot shorter isn’t going to work in the NHL.

  31. oceanic8675

    ![gif](giphy|xBqg5gAf1xINizpek6)

Let me go ahead and summarize the message 🤣

  32. classylikecufflinks

can we get a piss test on bob please

  33. GoodPoint3232

And that Ras extension be curious what that amounts to because he doesn’t move the needle one bit and misses open nets in critical junctures

  34. dandiogenes

That game just came down to which goalie was sharper. Really frustrating way to lose when the goal causing us to trail behind was a fluke.

  35. dkyguy1995

Detroit couldn’t maintain possession for longer than a few seconds the whole game. Never had a guy positioned where the puck was going. And Florida pounced on everything. Have to get better at spacing and quicker decision making

  36. TheNation55

The dead Senators roster will catch us before we change this losing strategy we’re forcing every game.

  37. magikarp-sushi

    Everything is pain

Kidding but damn that loss sucked

  38. Wheresthesass

I said before that the real question with this team was whether they could be consistently good throughout the season and avoid some of the losing spells they had last year.

Well, they’re 1-4 their last five games. That’s not ideal and they need right this ship right away.

  39. krabbypattyice

    ![gif](giphy|x47gj23jEvGxdWkQEC|downsized)

Tough loss. We need to switch the lines up, learn how to pass, win faceoffs, play better transition, keep moving so we don’t keep passing back and forth between the same stationary players, not take dumb penalties, screen the goalie, I could go on forever lol. I would prefer Sprong on the second line over Copp or Rasmussen. Shit…lets promote Veleno while we’re at it.

  40. AWokenBeetle

Our prospects can’t get here soon enough, this shit sucks to watch

  41. bryce-koz

The most concerning thing isn’t that we’re getting goalied or that teams seem to be planning against us after we revealed some strengths to the system during that five game streak.

The concerning thing is that we simply aren’t playing like we were during the early going. We were absolutely ruthless on the forecheck, intercepting passes in the neutral zone, and in taking all the shots we could. Teams are not only playing that way against us and making us look bad in the D zone, but we simply aren’t playing the ways that brought us wins. The forecheck is tepid, we give up the neutral zone, too many bad passes and cycles until we lose it rather than forcing it to net.

Bleh. If the team is exhausted after a week of good games, then we need younger or faster legs for the system.

  42. drinkwineandscrew

    Positives:

The wings played poorly (by the season so far’s standard) against last year’s cup finalist and a hot team, and only lost due to a freakishly unlucky goal and the goals not being 20mm wider. (fucken posts)

JV continues to show his beat form in the winged wheel

Reimer was solid other than whatever that was, which bodes well for having support for husso over the 82

Sprong continues to do sprong things

    Negatives:

Slow out of the gate. Ten minutes to get a shot off!

    Too many penalties

PP couldn’t get going against a PK that has been poor this season so far

Aggressive forecheck from the opposition once again forcing mistakes and puck dumping

Christ alive can we win some faceoffs?

He’s the best damn cop on the force

    Summary:

We can hang with our playoff rivals even when we’re not at our best, and with more puck luck we win that game or grab a point at the very least. That’s still an improvement over last season.

This team still blows hot and cold though as they did last season, and higher skilled teams like Boston and Florida are showing that they can neutralise the offensive threat.

Disappointing result but the sky is not falling and it’s not all doom and gloom. Tough schedule continues though and we need to put up more of a fight in the coming games to prevent this anomaly becoming a pattern.

  43. oceanic8675

Reimer had a good game. Dylan said all the right things just now in the presser.

    Excited for Saturday, still.

  44. xenonwarrior666

Did a Red Wing kill Bob’s puppy or something?Crazy how inconsistent he can be but also consistently own us.

  45. antigonecanadensis53

why does this sub fucking complain so much now

  46. MightyBosskTones

Tampa and Ottawa lost. Need the Leafs and Habs to lose.
