The Toronto Maple Leafs found a way to rally from two goals down but came up short in a shootout loss to the Boston Bruins. Mike DiStefano and David Morassutti give their thoughts on the Leafs effort in Boston and how Ilya Samsonov looked getting back in the net. Mike and Dave dive into what went wrong for Toronto in the game by looking at the Good, Bad & Ugly looking into the defensive performance from the group, and Brad Marchand’s play which led to Timothy Liljegren’s injury. Mike and Dave give their thoughts on the play itself and the lack of response from the team after seeing their teammate get taken out of the game. To end the show, Sheldon Keefe made it a point to bring up Tyler Bertuzzi getting his ice time reduced and whether it is concerning to see the new acquisition struggle like he has to start the season.

Listen if it wasn't for Sammy great performance last night leafs could have lost big time. So frustrated that no one stuck up for Timothy Bert on the bench laughing Reavo talking did nothing. Waste of money on Klingberg and Reavo and Domi I could see Marlie players I rather have in the lineup fix this now or we want be a playoff team.

You guys are ignoring the elephant in the room. No one stepped up for Liljegren. Why would they? Liljegren has never stepped up for anyone else. The Leafs used to have players who would step up. Rielly used to step up and fight. Marner wouldn't fight but he would get into scrums. Then they saw players like Matty and Lilli and Willy, well… "That isn't their game." So they stopped. And now no one steps up. "It isn't my game either." Why didn't Giordano jump in? Maybe he is starting to see that none of these guys would do it for him, so why should he do it for them.
Leafs players aren't defending in their own end. Keefe rewards players for camping on the blue line, waiting to blow the zone and ignoring their defensive assignments. If they coach is rewarding players for not defending, why would they defend?
The Leafs need a proper Dman. Yes, they have needed one for years. They probably need a couple at this stage. Will management finally do the right thing and trade Nylander to get one? Not holding my breath.
Bertuzzi, yea, he has been trash. If he doesn't start playing better he needs to be traded or waived or whatever. You just know wherever he goes he will be great again.

How many Leaf fans laughed at Yzerman signing Holl to a $3.4m contract? Meanwhile Treliving is signing John "turnstyle" Klingberg for $4.15m. Now the most overpaid team in the league needs to make another move to get a defenseman they should already have if they weren't managed by morons.
I really think they need a new coach. Keefe seems unable to settle on lines or motivate them to play well. Maybe it's early and there are a lot of new players.
