Knies should be with Matthews for sure. Nylander / Marner honestly idc anymore. I’d prefer Nylander with Matthews but whatever. I like Bert on line 3 and Domi with JTand Mitch. Kampf should be 4C not 3 but we don’t have a real 3C so sure I guess. I don’t really like Jarnkrok anywhere but line 3 is fine. Gregor has been money, worth every cent. Reaves has sucked as expected should be waived. McMann is not an NHL player. I’d rather keep running Holmberg.

Bertuzzi should be traded for anything, it’s clear he will never be what we need him to be. Laughing with Marchand after Lily gets injured is the single most pathetic moment of the Auston Matthews era. That speaks volumes about him and what we can expect from him.
If I was the coach I wouldn’t have him step foot on the ice in a leafs jersey again, he lost that PRIVILEGE. It is a privilege, you want to be a leaf? Fucking prove it, this isn’t make a wish its a hockey team that you can play your way off of.

No, Marner is pass first guy, teams play him to pass vs shoot. Being with Matthews who’s a shoot first guy. Teams close in on him. Moving Marner to another line where he’s with only one shoot first guy like Tavares doesn’t work unless there’s another shoot first option on the other wing. Just like the top line, Marner needs more options, he needs two shooters without drying up your second line. Nylander works with both Matthew’s and Tavares as he’s a shooter like them but will pass. Leaves teams guessing.

Kampf should not be the 3c. He is incapable of that role, no matter what youre paying him. Use him for what he’s good for. Defensive situations, pk and important face offs.

Knies definitely should be on the 1st pairing. Gregor deserves a shot to play with skilled players.

Because we’re 10 games into the season. It’s too early for the team to justify playing a rookie and another FA signing over the big FA splash in bert. That would be the equivalent of keefe telling GMBT “you signed the wrong guy”, which isn’t what you want to do when you’re fighting for your job.
I will say, I think that is a pretty balanced lineup though. I’d still personally try bert on that second line, then have domi center the third line with jarn and Gregor, then kampf at 4C.

CHEMISTRY. Nylander and Matthews do not work on the same line. Nylander competes AGAINST Matthews when they are on the ice together. It’s typical competitiveness at the expense of working together. They do fine on PP together because Nylander gets on board during PP. Nylander also benefits being on 2nd line. Knies and Marner are the best fit and Tavares benefits with Nylander because their style work together. Also Bertuzzi should fit with Tavares too but something is wrong with Bertuzzi. If he doesn’t work it it soon trade for another top 4 defenseman. I would also give Domi a shot with Matthews and Marner because that line needs players with skill and can handle the puck AND will defer to Matthews. Saying all that I would love to see Matthews Marner and Nylander play more together but the would have to gel as a line. Matthews and Nylander are too much at odds for the chemistry the top line needs.
