Donnie and Rick react to the Canucks big win over the Sharks last night
It’s all positivity surrounding the Canucks to start the season and that went to another level after the big 10-1 victory for the Canucks in the Bay Area last night and Donnie and Rick recapped the win.
Has tocchet ever been successful as a head coach? No. The biggest thing he's done is get in a gambling controversy. Let's hold back the parade it's 10 games. Relax
Anybody who was calling for a rebuild was wrong. The media in this city is so toxic also and it would be nice if they could reign that in. Anyone with eyes could see that the core was struggling with structure issues, not talent. The media was responsible for most of the negativity last season and it made matters far worse.
Seeing Tocchet's coaching record coming into Vancouver I never expected this. I had no faith in him. Boy was I wrong. I give him all the credit for how the Canucks are playing! It's not just their record, or that they are winning, it's how they are winning. They are working hard. They are putting the effort in, and that is all because of Tocchet.
I think you have to throw in the early 80s (pre-Mario) Penguins and the teams coached by Don Cherry in Denver if you're looking for worst team of all time. They were bad.
The way Tocchet was brought in still left a bad taste in my mouth, but he and the others brought in (Gonchar and Foote) have really changed the mentality of this team. The difference may be incremental, but it is seen in those four games that the boys have mentioned: the first home game after a long road trip against the Blues, the back-to-back game against the Rangers, the game where you were not playing your best against the Preds, and the trap game against the worst team in the leauge in the Sharks. Previous versions of the Canucks would have earn 2 or 3 points max out of the 8 points. This current team got 7 out of the possible 8 points. That is the difference between making the playoffs and not making it.
I still have concerns of the 2nd and 3rd pairing of D for this team and think we may need another 2 higher quality D-men to be a legitimate contender, but I think the forward group and our goaltending, and our special teams all appear to be adequate to be that of a playoff team.

Classic banter Rick is always like "Don't lump me in with ya!"đ
I am surprised by the start and I was on the rebuild train, but that was 3 years ago, that boat sailed 1-2 years ago
Time for a cup in Vancouver maybe

The battle with the Rangers showed more to me than any other game.

Just another 2 points boys, next up please.
It's 10 games guys.. Relax a tiny tiny bit! Maybe?
You act like they ain't gonna be 12th in The West by The end of March!
All I'll say…listening to you guys. I love it but it's early. Let's be cautiously optimistic but optimistic.
They've done a great job to earn some hope and trust back and that's what we needed
Now let's keep going boys.
Lets wait until the end of their next eastern road trip to make a call on Canucks

This Sharks team will struggle to hit double digit in wins if they keep this up
I don't think a rebuild would've been the wrong decision. But they somehow have pulled out of it. It's early so I guess we'll see.
