The coach is sending a message to the his GM that he doesn't want Reaves on the team.

Marchand had better keep his head up but that's a given anyway. He should be the only one to answer for his style of play and Reeves shouldn't be the only guy expected to play the tough guy role. Every player on that bench has to be ready to back up their teammate

But this wasn't intentional to injure, it was just a regular hockey play and ended up being unfortunate and yeah should have been a tripping penalty.. but that's it.
And what is Reaves gonna do really lol, Marchand isn't going to fight a guy that plays only 5 min a game. Marchand knows he's more valuable on the ice rather than in the box and Reaves in the box ain't making a difference in the game for the Leafs lol.

Reeves is a coward who has proven this enough times, hence why everyone laughed when the Leafs signed him. He's been embarrassed twice this year, and knows if it happens again, he's done for. Anyone still defending him at this point in the year is a clown who should go back to watching gardening shows, as this sport is clearly too much for them.
Remember, Reeves touches anyone on Boston, and he'll have to answer to Milan Lucic next game. Reeves knows the best he gets out of that is his contract bought out. The worst is finding out his contract has been bought out while he's in the hospital recovering from a broken face. Reeves will never do a thing against Boston or Montreal

IMHO, when a goon goes after someone because of a clean hit that they object to, the goon should be ejected from league play for one month, automatically.
