The LA Kings locked Darryl Sutter out of the locker room en route to their 2nd Stanley Cup.

  1. Coaching is like managing a business. Every study conducted proves the best managed companies manage people, not the company. Sutter coaches like a dad and that doesn't work.

  2. I loosely follow hockey but I didn’t realize the team didn’t like Sutter.

  3. Many different versions of this story. Most of them have the team pissed off, not celebratory. So this version is unique. The other thing that all versions of this story get wrong is that it was the season AFTER the 2nd and final Cup run. The season where they thought they could still "flip the switch" and be the best team in the league whenever they needed to. They were wrong and missed the playoffs. Right after missing the playoffs, they still went and partied in Vegas as had become their custom, and it was all down hill from there.

  4. The day a player walks me out of the room is the last day he suits up for the team. The first locked door is the last time there are doors. I would strip the place down to the studs and trade all the bad seeds.
