I know fans were ready to fire Myers into the sun earlier this season… but it didn’t change the fact he was #4 on the depth chart.

It’s really good to see Myers work his way out of those struggles, and the coaching staff keeping him accountable when he struggled.

And to think we were potentially looking to trade guys like Myers, Jt and Boeser.

  3. Myers has always had solid skills between his moments of cluster fuck.

Good skater, active stick, capable of forcing players to the outside, good passing range/ability.

When he was playing top minutes against top opposition—especially with a lot of defensive zone starts, his brain would pause and then he would panic. It happened so often we never got to see good Myers.

Lower minutes + easier opposition + offensive zone starts + Adam Foote = r/TopRightMyers

He’s also a great leader (Quintin mentioned him by name at his captaincy press conference), and locker room guy.

If he can show that this start is the new normal—not just a blip of good games, I would have been comfortable enough taking him back on a much reduced salary (and expected role), if it weren’t for his age. He’ll be turning 34 this season, so letting him go is the better option.

  4. Picking up Elliotte Friedman has helped, too—we have right handed options (that don’t include Juulsen).

As someone who wanted to trade JT and Boeser, I will shut up about Myers and let management do its thing

What shocks me is that he’s back to 16-20 minutes a game and still hasn’t made a mistake. If he keeps this up this will be a huge load lifted off Hronek even if it’s only by a few minutes

  7. Genuinely this might be the best stretch of play in a Canucks uniform for Myers.

    Happy for the guy!
Chaos Giraffe memes are fun, but this winning thing is even more fun.

  9. Its amazing how slotting a defenceman into a spot where he belongs makes things work!

Jokes aside Myers is playing his ass off and I’m proud of him too. I feel bad for ever ripping the guy tbh, because he’s playing lights out for us right now.

I will admit I was one of those who wanted Tyler Myers off the team and sitting in the press box, but he has played really well the last number of games and has proven me wrong.

  12. Myers is the same player he always was with the same strengths and weaknesses, but the difference is we’re asking him to do things he’s good at and managing his deployment more.

  13. We have to go all in this year. Even myers is overachieving.

KISS – keep it simple stupid. and this approach has worked wonders for Meyers.

or, KITH, if Mike Tyson were saying it

  15. What Myers is doing so well is he’s making the quick and safest play everytime now. Low event hockey and not trying to do too much. In fact most of our dmen are and it just shows trust in the teammates around you to do their job so you don’t try to do too much yourself

  16. CAUSE I’M BEGINNING TO FEEL LIKE A GIRAFFE GOD, RAFFE GOD

He’s going to be worth a shitload at the deadline.

I was always on Team Myers from the start 🦒

Maybe it’s time to buy his jersey 😈

Everyone was so quick to blame everyone last season, when the team just performed poorly. It wasn’t any specific individual. Now that our team is meshing, the so-called “bad” defensive players have all been “miraculously” playing well. It’s not a coincidence.

  20. LargeShift3566

I’m calling it — Myers will resign for 1.5 per for 3 years.

It seemed like at the start of the season he was trying to do a little too much, not really playing his game. He’s really simplified his game lately and he looks solid.
