Let’s get Bratt, toffoli and timo back on the score sheet next game and show em our depth!

    Top of mind:
    -Bahl is great
    -Tierney is so solid
-Holtz got into some great shooting positions

  3. Tuesday is gonna be a tough game, but they looked fairly good tonight once they got settled in. Focus on shutting down the top lines for the Avs and hopefully we can grab another two points on this trip.

The NHL has a very large boner for Bedard. That broadcast was tough to watch. The guy just puts a skate on the ice and they lose their load.

When Jack and Nico come back, I hope they continue to play with this type of grit

This needed to be a statement game, and I’d say it was:

    * Dawson Mercer is finally on the board.
    * Goals from unlikely heroes: McLeod, Lazar, and Willman.
    * I don’t really give two shits for the league thinks or the pundits or whatever, but the boys showed **themselves** that they can win a hockey game without their top two players.
    * Yes, I know its Chicago, but coming out after getting the news that your superstar is out for weeks and your Captain isn’t even with you, and still winning and mostly dominating the game. Its important. It boosts morale. It boosts confidence.
    * Another great game for our goalie. Vitek not only had the save of the year, but he came up massively for us when our defense was sleeping.
    * That was not our best played game by a long shot. Still some head scratching decisions in the defensive zone that really need to be addressed.
    * Absolutely need to commend their ability to shut down Chicago’s chances tho. Thats what made the Devils of last year such a threat, their SOG against was always on the lower end and we did that tonight for the most part.
    * And we won this game without Jesp/Pally/Timo/Toffee doing offense things. Depth, baby. Depth.
    * Please give me Holtz in the top six. Please.
    * Face off specialist: Nathan Bastian.
    * PK also looked so much better tonight. Again, I realize this was against Chicago, but you build off games like this and PKs like that.
    * Next up: Colorado. Tuesday is going to be an absolute test. We’re really gonna need to play our best defensive game of the season thus far and we’re really going to need our offense to step up. Plus its fucking nationally televised.

Also, I think I’ve figured out the formula. We lost on Friday because I was visiting my parents in Jersey, but tonight I was back on my winning couch, with my Devils bracelets and Devils shirt on and we won.

Take what points we can get while our top two guys are out. Played a very responsible game, defense looked really cleaned up. Good to see Mercer get going and our depth guys stepping up. Beautiful goal by Willman. McLeod continues to shine. And we actually played solid it a lead through the pretty much the whole game. Hope we can start finishing some more chances, we had a lot of them. But when we were up one or even two we didn’t take our foot off the gas line we usually do. Vitek was solid. Onto Colorado, that will take a huge effort.

  8. JabbaOG

Kevin Bahl is going to be a star in the NHL

  9. mikefred2014

We dominated most of the game and had a solid preforms from VV. I still hate how we give up late goals though, no bueno for my heart lol.

I just want to chip in that it’s nice to see Holtz quietly putting together another solid performance. He seems to really be getting comfortable out there. Could have easily had a goal or two with some better puck luck, and he’s making quicker decisions with the puck and passing well too.

  11. Frenchthealpaca

I could see Lazar as a coach or an assistant in a few years. Well spoken, understands the game.

  12. MartysBetter29

Good on Vitek and Schmid in each of their last appearances. Better than good.

  13. sanbaba

Nice goddamn game. First period was shaky but we really stepped up defensively after that. Obviously Vitek was huge tonight but from Hamilton to Smith I’m pleased tonight.

  14. BillyJayJersey505

I viewed that as their strongest performance of the season.

  15. Welcome to the big league, MAX WILLMAN. Great to see him stepping in, looking good out there, and scoring as well. Very cool. Interesting from the post-game interview to hear they play the same coaching system in the AHL to the NHL, so it’s easier to jump into the big team.

Just got home from the game, boys looked pretty good without Jack and Nico, started really slow, but good to end the period ahead and after we tied it we really settled into the game and never looked back.

I think enough time has passed where I can appreciate and miss Taylor Hall, he was the best player on the Hawks tonight and I felt bad for him when his great passes would lead to nothing because of how bad his teammates are. I don’t miss the days where they highlight some players performances and for the season they have the equivalent of a good game.

  17. Hitman5286

I was gonna say I’m worried about Timo. He didn’t score but he was all over the place tonight. Just a little snake bitten is all. If he plays like he did tonight every night the points will come. What a complete game tonight.

  18. resistible

Darren Pang sure showed lots of love to Bahl. I’ve always appreciated ol’ Panger.

  19. scarlet_stormTrooper

Good game. Tight at the end. Glad to know we can win without the stars even if it’s against Chicago

Willman scouting reporter from the Forecaster …

“The speedy forward has battled his way from college hockey through the ECHL and AHL to earn a chance at an NHL job. Has helped himself by being able to play all three forward positions, and his motor is constantly running no matter where he plays. Can contribute at both ends of the ice. His skating ability is his meal ticket.”

And my favorite thing about him … despite his average size, he is not afraid to throw a hit.

  21. Sensitive-Lie-7219

Where the hell is nosek and miller!!!!??

  22. lowdog39

now if the rest of the forwards play that way with consistency they will be fine . nice game max . bahler looking better each game , with some hiccups . but very good . how many passes of luke’s were tipped/broken up there . something he does with consistency , telegraphes his passes . hopefully he breaks that soon .
