It is not about Samsonov being bad and they are looking to get rid of him. They need to upgrade on D and I think they are feeling more solid about Woll being their #1. This means they can use Samsonov 3.55 in cap space for a D and bring up Jones as backup. Samsonov numbers are not that bad if you take away the two games against Tampa Bay.
Given Samsonov is a UFA at years end, and given that he’s playing poor and makes over 3 million on a cap strapped team….trading him definitely seems to be an option.
Samsonov will bounce back, just a crappie situation he's in

While I believe Sammy could have been better lets ALL not forget what he did for the Leafs last year even with the SOFT Garbage defense in front of him! This year the defense is 100% WORSE. Klingberg has been a disaster back there while injuries to McCabe and now Lili have hurt the them too. What Treliving needs to do is some how get 1 if not 2 defenseman that are big/mean and move people out from the net like what Schenn did in his short time back. Not to mention opposing players are having ZERO issues skating into the Leafs zone due to the softness of the defenseman. Having some nastiness back there would really help out a bunch I believe.

Granted Sammy appears to not even know where he is in his own net lately but man, to overlook the usual atrocious D the leafs have and just go bash on Sammy because he is not pulling miracles out of his rear end night after night is overlooking the real and constant problem in leaf land.. The horrid D needs to be fixed instead of counting on luck to win games
Pump the brakes. Samsonov is going no where. They need defence before a goalie. Better D means better goaltending. They need to change the goaltending coach and trade for better D.
Any trade with CGY should NOT include Tanev. He is a warrior, but has had shoulder injuries the last 2 years. If we are to trade with CGY, Zadorov and Hanifin should be the targets.
I cant believe how screwed up this site is.. why dont you suggest samsaniv and picks for big z and tanev……in case leafland doesnt know this but most nhl teams dont want to help the leafs just for nothing…flames want good picks players etc….maybe bertuzzi, it looks like he hates being a leaf, but for nothing i dont think so…cslgary if they continue to play better they will wait to trade deadline and get a haul…hey why dont you suggest mcdavid or draisatl for nylander and picks
