Is Juraj Slafkovsky Actually WORSE Than Nail Yakupov?
After some discussion as to whether Slafkovsky is looking like a worse #1 pick than famed bust Nail Yakupov was, I endeavored to look at their stats for the same time period and the results were quite shocking.
I went a bit further (1975), these are all the first picks overall, lots of them defensemen that i found that had bad starts that were looking similar to Slafkovsky’s.

Only Joe Murphy stood out, but if Slaf keeps going at his current rate he wont beat his numbers at all.
Give it a rest with the drama already. Give this kid a chance to develop in the NHL and quit with the constant moaning and negativity. He's going to be just fine.
Here it goes. The worst pick in NHL history. EVEN if he completly explodes there are never gonna be a 100 point scorer. He is gonna be an ahl top liner his whole career. Until I see it thats where im at.
He did not even play a full season yet, He was injured for half the season last year. As of today He's only played 49 games in the NHL. Relax and give the Kid time before you call him a bust.
Fans are so goddamn impatient. Give the kid some time. There have been a handful of first round picks that took time to start developing. Let's start judging him when he's at least 21. Let's not forget that he's solely played on European ice his whole career before coming to the NHL. Give him time.
I think the Habs should send him to Laval till he's at least 20 or 21. Send him for the rest of this season to start.

I’m surprised they chose him over Shane Wright still. Maybe they thought he was more nhl ready. I see him being a solid 3rd liner. Time will tell.

yakupov was supposed to be the next great one, we did not expect much in the 2022 draft class
If he is a bust, Hughes better fire every scout who wanted him.
