Reimer Why!? | Another Frustrating Loss as the Red Wings Fall to the Canadiens in OT



Detroit came out of the gate applying good pressure, but a missed call and a 2-on-1 gave Montreal an early lead. From there the game devolved. Losing races to the puck, losing battles in the corners and out front, and making passes to no one or through traffic, the Red Wings looked flustered and disjointed all night long. Thankfully the Canadiens weren’t much better and Detroit was able to make it to OT, that was until James Reimer took the dumbest penalty i’ve seen from a goalie, leading to a game-winning PPG by Cole Caufield. The top line of Dylan Larkin, Lucas Raymond and Alex DeBrincat once again didn’t produce, and we begin to wonder if they are snake bitten, or in need of a shakeup. BUT…Joe Veleno was good again, even earning a promotion to the 2nd line with JT Compher and Andrew Copp, who have been a dynamic pair. Columbus on Saturday #lgrw

    Petry should be the 7th D at this point, Chariot I thought actually played well tbh. And my god Lyon should start or be backup for a bit.

    Brian is right on they look slow. I noticed during the Ny game, they were waiting for the puck to come to them on passes and loose pucks. Instead the rangers beat them to it every time. I tossed it up to the rangers just being really good, but this game felt the same.

    Seider is not looking like a top pair d man last 5 games maybe 4. He has added this anger to his game he gloves and roughs up other players yet doesn’t drop his gloves. Obviously we don’t want him fighting but if he is gonna play his new style he better learn how because someone is gonna start throwing at him sooner or later. Just a observation on his play style this season

    I actually think you should split up Copp and Compher. I think a 2nd line of Sprong Compher Veleno could be fun. 3rd line maybe Fabbri Copp Perron. Leave the 1st and 4th lines alone for now.

    We got our sticks handed to us by the Rangers and then lay an egg, at home, against the Habs. Sloppy play, give aways, not only having trouble entering the offensive zone, and having trouble breaking out of our own zone. A bad stretch? Have these guys practice passing, practice skating, and practice defense. Team looks sad on the ice.

    That was Seider's worst game since becoming a RedWing, BUT I don't like what Lalonde has done with him… in interviews he has said that he wants less risk from Seider and „he done that“ for example….
    Under Blashill, Seider could play up as he wanted…looked much better to me & the problem is that Seider looked like Calder Seider even at the last WC & not the way he plays under Lalonde..I hope for Seider's sake he can just play how he wants or transfer in the summer.

    I’m going to be done with this team fairly early if this continues. Not fun to watch. I don’t know what the answer is. Maybe Blashill wasn’t the problem. The Yzerplan is crumbling.

    The Red Wings have totally looked lethargic lately and for them to be tied for third in the conference and points and 2nd in the division is absolutely unreal..

    just think about that for sec..

    You almost feel like they shouldn't be up this high..

    It's shows how competitive the conference is.. it seems like most teams can't get any traction going right now
