Today’s win means little for the Leafs. They beat an exhausted team of superstars who are on a 7 game losing skid. It doesn’t change the fact that the Leafs have their playoff spot in jeopardy as we progress further in the season. While I liked the way the players created goals & offensive sequences from time to time, there really wasn’t a significant improvement with their overall play. The guys are still not moving their legs hard enough on the forecheck & are too afraid of using their bodies to win puck battles/ maintain possession. Defensively they were better but still gave too much space & had careless decisions in their own end. I felt Zaitsev has been better with Dermott because he is given more freedom to join the offensive sequences & move the puck, he is noticeably more suited for this kind of style rather than being a pure shutdown guy alongside Gardiner. There’s no denying this team has a load of skill, nevertheless a win is a win & hopefully this game is a confidence booster for guys like Matthews, Nylander & Kadri to adapt to their game.

i was watching the game and idk y but the way he got his ht was so suttle. Like I see him get the 2 goals n im thinking "Wouldn't it be cool if he got a hat trick" and then I forget he scored like 2 minutes later. And then when he bangs in the third one I was completely shocked
Come on sportsnet, it would have been nice to hear Joe Bowen do the play by play for Kadri goals.
